Brenda Howard was a bisexual activist who is widely credited as having created the first Pride parade, and is known as the "mother of Pride." She helped coordinate the Christopher Street Liberation Day March in honor of the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall riots, which gradually evolved into our modern conception of Pride. She was active in the Gay Liberation Front, ACT UP, and a number of organizations for bisexuals. She passed away in 2005.
